There’s only one thing that’s more terrifying than hurtling along in a small plane and that’s doing only a few feet above the ground so that crashing looks increasingly imminent as every second passes. Yet that’s exactly what YouTube’s Linkerius does as a hobby, skimming across the earths surface at speed.
Despite it looking like something you’d only do if you’ve got a serious adrenaline seeking problem this type of flying is actually a technique used by military aircraft and is referred to as nap-of-the-earth or NOE for short. In order to avoid enemy threats and being detected by radar pilots will use hills and valleys to hide themselves from view.
