If you love avocados (and lets face it they are amazing) then you’ll be more than familiar with the process of preparing one before eating it and whilst you probably always throw the pit away, artist Jan Campbell does things a little differently – she makes amazing works of art with them!
It all started one day when Campbell was preparing an avocado for lunch and was struck by how beautiful the pit inside looked. Stopping her in her tracks she had second thoughts about what to do and after weeks of wondering she came up with a plan and began carving into it layer by layer… until something beautiful emerged.
Ever since then Campbell has been carving into avocado pits (or stones as she refers to them), transforming them into detailed figurines inspired by Celtic folklore. You can see more of her work on her website and Instagram.
