People wear makeup all the time to try out new looks and change their appearance, but not many go to the lengths that Vancouver-based makeup artist Mimi Choi goes to. The 31-year-old makeup artist pushes makeup to its limits with her makeup creations, many of which are optical illusions thanks to her clever use of shadows and highlights.
Mini was once a teacher and worked in a pre-school, during which time she felt her creativity was suppressed. She enjoyed teaching, but wasn’t entirely happy. Having already done bridal makeup for friends who loved what she did Mimi began experimenting with makeup brushes at home and even enrolled at a local beauty college to perfect her skills.
It wasn’t until Halloween however that Mimi became hooked on creating her mind-altering makeup illusions. Searching on Instagram for inspiration she stumbled across a woman who’s face appear to have been cracked using makeup. Mimi put her own twist on the look at the rest is history. Now she has 339k followers on Instagram and counting.
