Curious astronaut exploring a deserted Earth

A wandering astronaut is exploring an apocalyptic-themed Earth after all the humans disappeared in this new series called “Franchise Too”, by American artist Scott Listfield.  Our astronaut is not exploring just any part of our dear Earth, but rather our deserted fast food chains, pizza places, coffee shops, in a metaphorical franchise-apocalypse, a “what-if” taken to the extremes, but which really speaks to the heart.”In particular I was thinking about places that had a specific regional ties, like In N’ Out, Waffle House, and Tim Horton’s, and about how they have become deeply intertwined with our sense of where we come from, along with a nostalgia for our childhood, that goes well beyond a simple love for greasy things,” says Scott.

Malls, department stores, shopping centers, food court, all these are long-forgotten in Scott’s paintings. The lifestyle built around it seems to be on a downward spiral, “the last relics of a once golden age of shopping plazas”, in Scott’s own words. So, he just wants to make some paintings about all those “good old times” of his childhood and they look fantastic. Take a look!
