Your Taste in Music Can Affect Your Intelligence

Virgil Griffith which is better known for the Wikipedia Scanner that looks at where Wikipedia edits are coming from also tracks other interesting correlations, one of them being the musical tastes of college students compared to their SAT score’s.

On the x-axis you will find the SAT scores while the coloured boxes relate to a certain genre (see key at bottom of diagram) and feature the names of the particular artists the students listen to.

As you can see from the diagram fans of Lil Wayne’s music scored lowest while the listeners of Beethoven’s work were amongst those who scored the highest in their SAT.

The data represented above shows 133 of the most popular artists from 1,352 schools.
