In this haunting series titled Paradise Parking, American-born and Paris based photographer Peter Lippman explores a world of abandoned cars that have been left, exposed to natures elements. The personal project has been two years in the making for the photographer and features photographs of once shiny vehicles that are now rusty, tarnished and slowly falling apart as tree roots and foliage smothers them, all of which makes for a rather post-apocalyptic scene that you would normally find in a Hollywood movie.
A flashback to a golden age of motoring most of the cars in these photos are considered classic and therefore it seems a shame that they’ve been left to fall into a state of such disrepair, making Lippman’s photos even more important. The first showing of the series will take place soon in Brussels at Sophie Maree Gallery.
