Wild Ape Starts Using Saw, Becomes Surprisingly Competitive

YouTube / BBC

It wasn’t so long ago that we shared a story about the BBC’s new series Spy in the Wild in which a group of Langur monkeys mourned the death of a robotic spy monkey and now it would seem the series has captured an equally fascinating moment as another spy animal, this time in the form of an orangutan has captured what could be the best carpentry competition you’ll ever witness.

The team behind the series set up spy orangutan with a saw and left a saw next to some branches before the wild organgutan shows up and begins to use the saw to start cutting, even appearing to take pride in the craftsmanship. When robotic ape starts cutting however a fierce battle begins as the two of them compete in a saw-off of sorts. It’s brilliant to watch!
