Some People Tied Their Dogs up and Left Them to Die During the Houston Flood and It’s Heartbreaking

As you may already be aware, Houston, Texas, is currently experiencing disastrous levels of flooding due to heavy rainfall caused by the tropical storm Harvey and it’s displacing thousands of people. Five people are reported dead so far with more people injured and understandably people are fleeing for their lives, but amidst the chaos some are forgetting their pets.

Left behind to fend for themselves after their owners have fled to safety shocking photos are emerging that appear to show dogs submerged in water that puts them at risk of drowning and even clinging on to barriers so that they’re not swept away – despite Texan officials having warned people numerous times about leaving their pets and livestock behind.

Thought to be some of the worst flooding that Houston has ever seen the photos also show dogs that have been tied up to trees and telephone, partially submerged in rainfall. Here’s what Chief Stephen Carlisle in Roman Forest had to say on the matter. “I promise you, that I will hold anyone accountable that unlawfully restrains their dog in extreme weather condition. Dogs are your family members too.”
