From humble beginnings back in 1986 when two friends set fire to an eight-foot statue on San Francisco beach, the Burning Man festival has grown to become one of the best known festivals on earth, described as an experiment in community and art with the attractions and artwork on display at this years event being no exception.
This years festival attracted more than 70,000 people to its temporary city in the Nevada desert, which for a week became a home for art, community and self-expression.
